For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me
together in my mother’s womb.
Approximately one baby is aborted every two seconds around the world, equaling 46 million murders every year. While abortion is illegal in the Philippines, women secretly seek out the destruction of their babies in utero, which makes it difficult to determine how far this injustice prevails. A study in 2006 showed that 15% of all pregnancies in the Philippines ended with an induced abortion, which is about 473,000 babies annually. In 2008, it was estimated that 16 out of every 100 pregnant women in the Philippines aborted their children.
In a nation where almost 30% of its population lives under the national poverty level, three quarters of the women who attempted abortion said their number one motive was the inability to afford the rising economic costs of raising a child. Underground abortion techniques include medicinal and herbal consumption, outward blows to the mother’s abdomen, abortive “massage” performed by so-called midwives, and even the usage of instruments to bring internal harm to the mother’s womb.
Over the years great strides have been made concerning the ending of abortion. It’s been through the Church and individuals who have stood with conviction in their own hearts against the unrighteous shedding of innocent blood. Scripture does not leave any question as to importance of the unborn.
David wrote of God’s value of the life within the womb in Psalm 139:15-16, “My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” God hates the shedding of innocent blood (see Proverbs 6:16-17), and so should His people! The Lord commands us, “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.” (Proverbs 31:8)
Life is sacred! So how can we sit silently any longer?
We have to face the injustices of our day, and the only way that something as unjust as abortion will end is if we take a stand. We believe an active solution is offering an alternative to abortion by providing a place of refuge and support for the mother, and a place of promise and hope for her children.
What can you do now to begin making a stand?
1. PRAY! Ask the Lord to show you what you can do to help change the course of thousands of lives that are ended prematurely. Pray for
pregnant mothers who are tempted or pressured to abort. Pray for the lives of the unborn to be protected.
2. Consider volunteering at a local pregnancy rescue center. Reach out at any abortion centers in your area. Participate in baby showers for those
little ones who would have been aborted. Begin to cultivate in your heart a value for life!
3. Partner with Hope For All Children in assisting pregnant mothers. Donate supplies for labor and deliveries, baby supplies, educational materials,
etc. To contribute financially to Hope For All Children, click here. To find out more about how to get involved, please email us at:
